Little Blog, the mortal

Little Blog has a worried frown on her face.

“What are you thinking about, Little Blog?” asks Dad.

“Daddy, these days I’m worried about getting older.”

“Why are you so worried about it, Little Blog?”

Of mommies, grannies, great-grannies, and Little Blog

Little Blog has gone shopping with her Mom and her big sister, Sunshine, to stock up for the next visit to the beach, and to buy cheese for Sunshine.

She is giving both of them, as well as anyone within earshot, a running commentary on the events of the previous day, what she sees around her at the mall today, and what the connection is between the two. In Little Blog’s world, everything is connected. Which means, of course, that there is a lot to say. Amazingly, she eventually seems to run out of words. But it turns out that this is only to restart her onboard processor.

Suddenly, in the middle of the mall, she stops dead in her tracks.

“Mommy?”

“Yes Little Blog?

“Where do great-grannies come from?”

“They come from their mommies, Little Blog.”

“But Mommy, aren’t their mommies dead?”

Little Blog’s mommy is very much alive, but she has been speechless for several hours now.

Little Blog seeks closure

Little Blog does not believe in being in a relationship with more than one male at a time. Her male best friend until now has been M, also 5-years old. It appears he is no longer her male best friend. The reasons are shrouded in mystery.

No one has had the opportunity to get a word in edgeways to quiz Little Blog while she comments on the weather, the state of the nation, the state of the school playground and the state of the garden in winter, not to mention the state of the cartoons on TV, the state of health of the family pets, and the state of the United States of America.

Once again, it is dinner time. Little Blog suddenly pauses in her running commentary.

“Mommy?”

“Yes, Little Blog?”

“Is an ex-boyfriend somebody who was your boyfriend but then you moved on because you were tired of that one and you wanted a new one?”

“Yes, Little Blog.”

“Well then, M is my new ex-boyfriend.”

The mystery is solved. However, Little Blog’s career in relationship counselling may need to be reconsidered.
